Army

Staff Sgt. Ralph Adams was in Korea only a month when he was taken prisoner. He was wounded during a battle after his tank was disabled by the enemy. Having a bayonet thrust through his leg and walking many miles to the POW camp where he spent 28 months in captivity. Ralph made it home, married, fathered 2 children and became the City Fire Chief in his home town. Ralphs son asked me to meet and interview him in order to create a shadow box. I was grateful to meet such an honorable man.

Sgt. Major Randolfo Cesani. Randy was truly a brave man. He served 3 tours in Vietnam with the Army’s Special Forces. The 4th Battalion Mobil Strike Force, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Working in the Central Highlands, Camp Dak Seang, his unit came under siege for over one month from a determined enemy. Then Sergeant Cesani called in air strikes and artillery for effective support which caused the VC to retreat and end the siege. For his actions Sgt. Cesani was awarded the Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star and the Valorous Unit Award.

Donald Carney, my brother was the 2nd oldest of 7 children. Don enlisted in the Army in 1968 and received orders to Vietnam where he was assigned to the Motor Pool in Pleiku, an air base that received many rocket and mortar attacks. He also served in Germany during his 4 year enlistment. He later joined the 133rd Engineer Battalion Army Reserve Unit to be with my Air Force brother. He retired with 24 years combined service.

Major Josh Boesen served with the Missouri Army National Guard. Josh was activated and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Josh was in Intelligence and I can’t comment any further on this matter.

Major Richard Suydam, a Green Beret Airborne with the Special Forces. Major Suydam served in Viernam for 2 tours and recievced many awards for heroism and bravery.
